Antique serpentine oak dresser in vintage duck egg
This dresser is very old and most likely early 1900-1910. When it came to me it was pretty sad. Someone took off its hardware and put pitiful little lingerie knobs. The dresser suffered from age and neglect and had half of its backing missing in action.
Luckily the owners who took off original hardware had some sensibility to keep it in a little ziplock. The hardware was previously painted but I am glad I got it because the antique hardware can't be beat. It is hand casted and just stunning.
I have rebuilt the dresser back and repaired the splitting top. I have also painted the dresser in a gorgeous vintage duck egg designer mineral chalk paint by Dixie Belle and protected in flat out flat topcoat by General Finishes. The drawers were lined anew. Two top drawers received luxurious navy 100% wool felt and bottom two drawers decorative contact paper. The top was stained in java and protected in satin polyurethane. The piece received new hardwood wheels which were missing. The amazing hardware was soaked and scrubbed until I removed most of the paint off of it and reinstalled. This dresser is just gorgeous. Oak pieces can survive all kind of abuse and this one is saved and set for another lifetime.
