This chest of drawers is a staple of the Art Deco movement that started in France. Art Deco emerged between two wars, and at its height represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. It was influenced with a Paris exhibition from 1925 and this decorative style borrowed from all other styles and attempted to recreate the future. It's staple look is symmetry and quality.
This dresser is dating approximately 1925-1935 and it was built by Huntley Furniture. Huntley made fine furniture until it merged with Thomasville in the 1950's. It is solid wood, it features 4 large exceptionally deep drawers and it is a very beautiful, artistic, and professionally designed statement and storage piece. It has original handles that were cleaned and polished and the top was stripped, stained and protected with polyurethane. The milk paint was protected in flat topcoat. The green color is best described as a light olive. The vintage transfer Bridgette's patisserie features a cake and a Paris address.
