Rare small Eastlake spoon carved washstand
$0.00Price
Charles Eastlake was a trend setting British architect and author who envisioned furniture should be attractive and well made by workers who took pride in their handwork, and introduced his ideas in the 1868 book ‘Hints on Household Taste in Furniture’. This style is a seed of the American Arts & Crafts movement and essentially a rebellion to Victorian over the top ornamentation. Eastlake was most popular from 1870-1890. This item is antique, rare and over 100 years old. It needed some structural repair and I gave it new glass knobs, and new drawer liner. The intricate carving is made by hand in spoon-carved technique. The piece features original distressed milk paint in ivory.
